healing hands: restorative yoga + therapeutic touch

January 27th 4-6pm w/ Lindsay Gitlitz

Hands on relax and restore:
Restorative yoga is coupled with a physical touch modality called IHYT in this special workshop. IHYT is a technique involving pressure, stretching and other intuitive practices intended to leave the recipient feeling more open to their own healing potential.

Relaxation activates the body’s own healing mechanisms. As an ongoing process, relaxation and healing work on multiple levels: they effect the condition of the physical body, the quality of breath and the content of the mind. Slowly, long held tensions may release and emotional holdings start to soften when you are able to consistently and effectively relax.

Through this guided restorative yoga practice the individual is able to explore their own journey of what calls to be healed on the deepest levels. Whether your path of healing is just beginning or well underway, this night of intentional practice is designed to produce a yummy and “feel good” experience. Each practitioner will be assisted with the IHYT hands on techniques to facilitate increased receptivity. We will operate as if everything is already OK and build upon our openness to being receptive. The practice will end with a yoga Nidra- a systematic journey through the physical body which allows for a deep release of the mind and a sense of lucid dreaming.

This special night is limited to 12 people for a maximum hands-on experience. The cost is $35.

4 paths of yoga: bhagavad gita immersion

February 9th 2-5:30pm with Daniel Cordua

Join Palo Santo Wellness Boutique owner & sought after Philadelphia-based yoga teacher Daniel Cordua for a special afternoon of yoga philosophy and timeless spiritual thought. Daniel will present a fun, captivating, down-to-earth, succinct & digestible 4 hour introduction to the main yoga text & most-translated book in human history, The Bhagavad Gita. Learning & discussing important themes of perennial yogic wisdom from this illuminating book, this immersion will invoke a spiritual intelligence that can be directly applied to our everyday lives - teaching us how to live a more connected existence - and, if we are yogis or yoga teachers, how we can apply this connection to our practice and our own teaching.

What really IS this thing we do and call “Yoga?” This immersion will simplify & make clear the fundamental teachings of yoga by exploring the four common yoga paths – Karma-yoga, Jnana-yoga, Ashtanga-yoga & Bhakti-yoga, clarifying what separates and what unites them, how it all relates to asana practice, as well as which elements of these paths are most practical for deepening one’s own yoga practice in today’s world!

Students will be be better prepared to interpret yoga teachings for themselves by gaining an understanding of the most fundamental concepts of yoga through the Bhagavad-gita, yoga’s most essential text.

Subjects to be covered:

Ashtanga-yoga / Meditation
Jnana-Yoga / Renunciation
Karma-yoga / Action
Bhakti-yoga / Devotion
Karma
Time
The modes of nature (gunas)
The relation between the mind, intelligence, ego, and self.
The relevance of asana practice in yoga.

and more!

Saturday February 9th from 2-5:30pm

Daniel Cordua is a popular yoga teacher & massage therapist throughout the Philadelphia area & owner of the healing sanctuary & creative space, Palo Santo Wellness Boutique. His journey towards a healthier body, steadier mind, stronger spirit and more open heart has drawn Daniel to not only study & teach dynamic vinyasa yoga asana, but to yoga philosophy and ancient yogic texts – especially bhakti yoga, or the yoga of devotion. Daniel has pursued this interest by studying continuously with yogis, sadhus, and living saints - especially renowned teacher, Raghunath, completing his 500 hr Yoga certification in India. An avid fan of mantra, singing, and meditation, he is also informed through his ayurveda, massage & bodywork practices via the awareness of just how important yoga can be to those dealing with stressful lives, hunched backs, and cluttered minds. Daniel's teaching is fun, aligned, challenging and infused with ancient wisdom for modern ears. He continuously offers workshops, teacher trainings, and retreats locally, nationally & internationally.
